Rome, 22 May 2025
Today, the FS Italiane Group and the trade unions FILT-CGIL, FIT-CISL, UILTRASPORTI, UGL FERROVIERI, FAST CONSAL and ORSA FERROVIE signed a draft agreement for the renewal of FS Italiane Group Corporate Contract, following the understanding on the National Collective Labour Agreement for Mobility - Railway Activities Contractual Area.
Salary increases of an average monthly amount of EUR 230 on minimum salaries and, covering the period from 1 January 2024 to 31 May 2025, an average one-off amount of EUR 1,000 were recognised.
Among the qualifying elements of the renewal: strengthening the company welfare system, adjusting working time regimes and work organisation, establishing a Joint Commission to analyse the impact of new professions linked to innovation and artificial intelligence, and introducing tools such as dual apprenticeships to facilitate young people's entry into the world of work.
‘By signing the renewal of FS Group's corporate contract, we confirm our commitment to focus on people, by promoting an improved work-life balance, with the aim of enhancing the Group's professional skills,’ stated the CEO and General Manager of FS Group, Stefano Antonio Donnarumma. ‘This renewal,’ continued the CEO, ‘not only meets the company's production needs, but also aims to develop skills through digitalisation and innovation, fundamental resources for the evolution of current and future jobs. I would like to express my sincere thanks to the trade unions for their shared work and commitment, and the participatory effort that made this result possible. The agreement,' concluded Donnarumma, ‘is a fundamental step to support the transformation and evolution of the sector, with the aim of giving impetus and value to the Country.’
The agreement represents a concrete and responsible response to the ongoing changes in the railway sector, strategic for the country's sustainable mobility. The new contractual framework enhances work, promotes inclusion and strengthens security, taking into account the deep changes related to technological innovation, digitalisation and market evolution, with a focus on work-life balance.
The agreement also confirms the central role of health and safety in the workplace, providing greater protection and concrete actions to spread and share a culture of prevention. The personnel classification system was also updated, consistently with the evolution of business processes, and actions were defined with a view to generational turnover.
The parties also agreed on an important update of the regulations on working time and work organisation, to take into account work-life balance needs, and ensuring greater sustainability of passenger and freight business.
The new Group Corporate Contract, flanked by the National Collective Labour Agreement, constitutes a system of shared rules that strengthens the ability of FS Group companies to effectively meet the challenges of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, and to seize new opportunities in national and international markets. Valuing people and skills is a strategic lever for the sustainable growth and competitiveness of the entire sector and the Group.
