FS Group: Olbia San Simplicio station reopens

Trenitalia's summer regional offer on the Olbia - Golfo Aranci line has been upgraded. Modernisation works by Rete Ferroviaria Italiana for over 12 million euro

Olbia, 30 May 2025

The Olbia San Simplicio station will reopen to the public on 1 June with more services and more connections available.

As of 1 June, Trenitalia (FS Group) regional train connections will be reactivated on the Olbia - Golfo Aranci line. Twenty trains will run along the picturesque railway line that connects the main town in Gallura with several beaches on the coast.

The new connections will run daily until 30 September 2025.

With regard to the work on the station building, carried out by Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (FS Group), investigations for the clearance of war devices have been completed and work is underway on the structural elements that will allow the construction of the new subway connecting the railway platforms and Via Gabriele d'Annunzio.

The construction site for the restyling and reorganisation of the station spaces has also started. The project includes raising the two platforms to make getting on and off the train easier, a new layout for accessibility routes and the creation of a pedestrian area.

The construction works will continue in the coming months and the station will be built in phases, allowing travellers to continue using the spaces, while trying to keep disruption to a minimum.

Important work was also carried out at the Golfo Aranci station, where tracks, sleepers and switches were replaced and the signalling systems were renovated to make the railway infrastructure more efficient and reliable, suitable for providing a better service. Ship loading/unloading operations were also simplified.

The total economic investment exceeds EUR 12 million.
