FS Security: thefts from passengers and assaults on FS Group staff fall in Lombardy

Milan, 28 February 2025

In 2024, assaults on railway personnel fell by 38%, from 26 in 2023 to 16 in 2024.  There are also encouraging figures for the first month of 2025, with a fall of 50% compared to the same period last year.

Thefts from passengers fell by 24% throughout the Lombardy region, and in the Milano Centrale station alone they fell by 40%.

Furthermore, Customer Satisfaction increased by 6.3% for the Lombardy stations and by 4% for the Milano Centrale station.

These figures come from FS Security’s latest reports - a company which is part of the FS Italiane Group dedicated to ensuring increasingly high levels of protection in all railway areas, for both passengers and employees, working in close coordination with the police.

Its ongoing commitment is achieved through integrated prevention strategies, innovative technologies and a partnership-oriented approach with local communities.

Some of the measures taken that have contributed to this improvement include: increased surveillance in the main stations and railway areas, and stronger team presence; ongoing training courses for FS staff, and awareness-raising campaigns for passengers, to promote responsible behaviour and respect for railway staff.
