Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane and UniCredit signed a Euro 300 million loan agreement with a 3 years tenor, the proceeds will be earmarked to Trenitalia and RFI.
The loan with UniCredit is part of the wider transaction, for overall Euro 600 million, specifically structured by FS for the purpose to seize the interesting opportunities created by the ECB’s measures for the economy and the banking system, designed to create support to the European industrial economy.
FS Group took advantage of this kind of funding opportunity at a very competitive pricing.
Furthermore, the loan agreement includes an “ESG Tranche” for an amount of Euro 200 million, which will finance expenses mainly on electric rolling stocks of Trenitalia, which are aligned with the EU Taxonomy standards for the financing of sustainable activities. Confirming the recognized value of the sustainability profile of the FS Group's investments, the ESG Tranche guarantees a lower pricing in respect to the cost of financing.
