Rome, 9th May 2018
On the 8th of May, the Chamber of Deputies hosted a delegation of women parliamentarians, elected officials, and public officials from Jordan and Morocco and called on them to share good practices and experiences with a view to sustainable and inclusive growth. The initiative was organized by the MENA-OECD Governance Programme, a strategic partnership between the OECD, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, and MENA countries (Middle East & North Africa).
FS Italiane was the only Italian company called to participate in the discussion with the delegation and to present its experience as a company committed to promoting inclusion strategies. The meeting was attended by Mauro Ghilardi, Director of Human Resources and Organization of FS Italiane, who presented the actions implemented and the projects aimed at favouring and enhancing the presence of women in the FS Group.
Women in Motion, launched in January 2017 by FS Italiane, is the project that has made it possible to increase female candidacies with a technical diploma in sectors that have until now been seldom open to the presence of women.
The important path of management change, centered on the technical areas of Trenitalia and Rete Ferroviaria Italiana, aims to improve the professional status of women in these sectors and to break down cultural barriers and stereotypes related to the presence of women in roles historically considered male roles.
In addition, the FS Group has committed itself to bringing the percentage of women in line managerial positions by 2020 from 13.5% (2017) to 20%, and in staff positions from 23.7% (2017) to 30%.
Thanks to these and other actions taken, the trend of having a female presence in the workforce is undergoing a gradual and constant increase.
