Rome, 3 September 2015
Trenitalia and Busitalia are official carriers for the musical marathon entitled “Il Jazz italiano per L’Aquila”, at which 600 jazz musicians will play for 12 hours in 100 concerts in the historical centre of L’Aquila on Sunday 6 September.
This is the largest jazz event ever organised in Italy. Hundreds of artists from throughout Italy will arrive in L’Aquila thanks to Trenitalia trains and Busitalia coaches transferring musicians between Rome Termini Station and the “Casa del Jazz” (Jazz House) to illustrate that rail and road travel is the best solution for improving collective transportation.
Through these two subsidiaries, Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane can support the initiative to aid civil, social and cultural reconstruction of this main city in Abruzzo so badly affected by an earthquake in 2009.
Already six years ago, Gruppo FS Italiane was in the front line to help the unfortunate populations.
“Il Jazz italiano per L’Aquila”, which is promoted by the Ministry of Cultural Assets and Activities and Tourism and organised by Aquila City Authorities in collaboration with trumpet-player Paolo Fresu, will commence at 12pm and end around midnight.
Concerts will take place in outlying areas and on a stage in the centre of Piazza Duomo, with around 20 locations set up along an itinerary covering reconstruction worksites.
The first people to listen to the appeal by Minister Dario Franceschini, del Mayor of L’Aquila Massimo Cialente and trumpet-player Paolo Fresu were Enrico Rava, Danilo Rea, Enrico Pieranunzi, Franco D’Andrea, Antonello Salis, Gianni Coscia, Gianluigi Trovesi, Maria Pia De Vito, Gianluca Petrella, Roberto Gatto, Rosario Giuliani, Rita Marcotulli, Stefano Battaglia, Paolo Damiani, Javier Girotto, Pietro Tonolo, Tiziana Ghiglioni, Ada Montellanico and Gino Paoli, who were immediately joined by hundreds of other musicians from throughout Italy.
This project is coordinated by the I-Jazz Association and the “Associazione Musicisti Italiani di Jazz “(Midj – Italian Association of Jazz Musicians) and the Casa del Jazz from Rome.
This event will be covered by Rai Radio, Rai Radio1, Rai Radio2, Rai Radio3, Rai Cultura and Rai5.
