Trenitalia – an FS Italiane Group company – and the Centro Nazionale Trapianti (CNT – the National Transplant Centre) have signed a collaboration agreement for the free carriage of biological materials aboard Frecce trains, the analysis of which is necessary to establish compatibility between donor and recipient prior to any transplant. It will be the Trenitalia High-speed Operations Room to identify the first available train. The container safeguarding the samples, stored and labelled according to the CNT’s strict safety procedures, will be then entrusted to the train conductor, who will hand over the precious parcel to the health care personnel waiting at the station of destination.
“It is a great source of pride for Trenitalia and for the whole Group,” underlines Paolo Attanasio, Director of Trenitalia’s Long Haul Division, “to make our Frecce trains available for an undertaking as noble as that of transporting biological material to the National Transplant Centre. In recent years, FS High Speed has reduced distances and united the urban hubs throughout the country, favouring people’s movement by train. This agreement will shorten travel times also for the biological samples, which will be consigned to the laboratories that conduct the analyses in the shortest possible time.”
This significant agreement is part of the FS Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility, which continues its daily commitment to putting people at the centre and creating shared value.
