As of today, the new Fondazione FS website is live.
More attractive and intuitive, the site enhances the beauty of the historic train routes, the grandeur of the museum spaces of the FS Italiane Foundation and the great projects of the worksites. What's more, new graphics improve people's browsing experience.
Amongst the main news is a search bar for booking a trip by historic train based on the region of interest, the type of service and the desired dates. By selecting the filter “Binari senza tempo” (Timeless Tracks), users can view the itineraries on the 10 wonderful lines managed directly by the FS Italiane Foundation and destined exclusively for the tourist market.
A section of the new site is completely dedicated to the Museo Nazionale Ferroviario di Pietrarsa (National Railway Museum of Pietrarsa), one of the largest exhibition spaces in the world and amongst the most prestigious cultural hubs in Europe. Browsing the page dedicated to the Museum, it is possible to book a visit online or organise a private event by choosing from amongst the evocative rooms and settings available.
Another section is reserved for ongoing projects, with insight into the history of the FS Foundation; the return of the Arlecchino and Settebello electrotrains to Italian tracks; and the restoration of the Trieste Campo Martius Museum.
By exploring the Library and Archives section of the website, people can consult the online catalogues dedicated to the historical and documentary heritage of the FS Italiane Group. A project to digitise the sources, collected in an innovative platform accessible to all for integrated research on papers, drawings, photographs, video recordings, albums and magazines in digital and high definition format.
Additionally, the new website is also linked to the Emporio of the FS Italiane Foundation, the online shop dedicated to fans of the Railway's history to buy gadgets from the Foundation.
