Crossing the tracks out of defiance or in a hurry to get to the other side of the station, climbing onto trains as if it were a game, breaking the rules and underestimating the risks involved. Such wrong behaviour can come at a high - even life-threatening - cost. To raise awareness about the correct actions to undertake in young people and bring them closer to the topic of rail safety, the Associazione Nazionale Dopolavoro Ferroviario (DLF) and FS Security (FS Group) have signed an agreement that includes a series of targeted initiatives.
A significant part of the collaboration will be devoted precisely to students, with the projects ‘Scuola Ferrovia’ and ‘Stop al Vandalismo’, two training courses to be held both in and outside the school, aimed at spreading the value of civic responsibility, respect for railway infrastructures and, more generally, the importance of a conscious and correct behaviour in shared spaces among young people.
The goal is making them understand, in a simple but effective way, the value of public transport, respect for common goods and a solid culture of legality. A shared commitment that translates into concrete projects.
With the joint contribution of DLF and FS Security, these activities will be further strengthened, also through events, educational meetings, dissemination activities and publishing initiatives, reaching more and more students and territories with clear and engaging messages, as educating means also preventing.
FS Security's main objective is to protect and secure the FS Group's railway infrastructure while ensuring high standards of security and decorum. Key activities include contrasting the phenomenon of graffiti writers, which represents a major challenge both for the protection of company assets and the traveller experience. Acts of vandalism not only entail huge restoration costs, but can also compromise the image and quality of rail services.
The Dopolavoro Ferroviario - a key player in the social and cultural life of railway personnel and local communities for more than a century - provides an extensive network of venues, sports facilities and meeting spaces. FS Security, with its technical and operational know-how, will help make future projects even more effective and structured.
The agreement between these two organizations is not limited to goodwill: each activity will be developed through shared operational modules to define roles, resources and tools, and ensure efficiency and continuity to the actions undertaken.
An alliance between tradition and innovation, between territory and institutions, to accompany the new generations towards greater civic awareness, respect for rules and attention to safety. A project that looks to the future, while being deeply rotted in the history of the Italian railway world.
