Ancona, 15 September 2021
As of today, there are more than 25,000 places on regional trains available for students in the region of Le Marche during the hours of school travel, able to adequately accommodate the streams of passengers, in compliance with the restriction for 80% occupancy of the total approved spots (seated or standing) established by current regulations.
To cope with the increase in the number of students, Trenitalia (FS Italiane Group) has increased the availability of places available throughout the region, adapting the composition of trains where necessary. In the region of Le Marche, there are almost 1,000 extra spots on offer.
In the weeks preceding the 2021 return to school, regional season ticket sales showed an upturn of 9% in Le Marche compared to the same period for 2020.
The increase in supply proved sufficient, given that there were no cases of overcrowding. With almost 4,000 passengers registered on morning trains, the opening of schools in Le Marche showed a 23% increase in passengers compared to the Wednesday prior.
Customer assistance has been strengthened during school entry/exit times, in particular along the Ancona-Ascoli Piceno and Civitanova-Albacina lines.
Mobility flows are monitored in real time, so as to be able to promptly intervene on any peaks in turnout with additional services (substitute bus or train), at the ready in the main locations.
