Rome, 5 April 2019
The sale of Centostazioni Retail’s entire capital was concluded on 28 March. The shares were sold by FS Italiane and Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI) to Altarea Cogedim.
Altarea Cogedim was selected as the best bidder in the competitive procedure for the sale of 100% of the capital of Centostazioni Retail, the company owning the commercial enhancement and long-term advertising regarding five Italian railway stations: Milano Porta Garibaldi, Torino Porta Susa, Padova, Roma Ostiense and Napoli Afragola.
The commercial enhancement of Centostazioni Retail covers areas currently equal to over 18 thousand square metres, with the potential to expand up to 26 thousand square metres by 2026. Exploiting the advertising potential generally concerns the station buildings.
The five stations, frequented by more than 70 million people per annum, are mostly located in urban areas with a high population density.
The sale of the Company completes the restructuring and enhancement process of the Centostazioni network and, more generally, of the travel retail activity of the FS Italiane Group.
Indeed, this transaction saw the partial division of Centostazioni (of which FS Italiane had reacquired 100% of the capital in January 2017), with the creation of the new company Centostazioni Retail, a further contribution to RFI’s retail branch and the ascription of the exclusive economic exploitation contract concerning the commercial and advertising spaces of the five railway stations.
Following the split, Centostazioni was merged by incorporation into RFI in July 2018.
Since the sale of CS Retail, the FS Italiane Group has earned 45 million euro, in addition to the sums yet to come from the economic exploitation contract.
