All thanks to Assisi Link, the new intermodal solution by the FS Italiane Group resulting from the synergy between Trenitalia and Busitalia and dedicated to those who choose the train+bus option to reach the historic centre of Assisi and visit the city of the Patron Saint of Italy and Europe. A smart and eco-sustainable solution: travel by train, the green travel method par excellence, and cover the last mile with modern, low environmental impact buses.
The new service - which will be operational from Sunday 15 December - was presented today in Assisi by Sabrina De Filippis, Trenitalia Regional Passenger Division Director, Stefano Rossi, CEO of Busitalia, Stefania Proietti, Mayor of Assisi, and Enrico Melasecche Germini, Regional Councillor for Infrastructure and Transport.
Also present were Amelia Italiano and Velio Del Bolgia, respectively Regional Directors Umbria of Trenitalia and Busitalia.
There will be 84 intermodal connections between Assisi rail station and the city centre every day: bus services - running about every 30 minutes, travel time about 10 minutes - in combination with the over 40 daily train services stopping in Assisi.
Tickets for Assisi Link are already available and can be purchased in a single solution: online on the trenitalia.com website or on the Trenitalia App, but also at self-service ticket offices, at station ticket offices and authorised sales points.
The train+bus interchange has been set up to be fast - from only 5 minutes - and easy, thanks to the dedicated signs and the personalised livery of the buses for the service.
Prices are super accessible: Perugia-Assisi Centre from €4, Rome-Assisi Centre from €12.25.
Assisi Link represents the Umbria part of the national project launched by Trenitalia and Busitalia to encourage people to switch from using private cars to public transport, with innovative and tailor-made mobility formulas.
