Busitalia: five new buses for Mugello

Barberino del Mugello, 23 January 2019

An additional five new buses enrich the fleet of Busitalia Sita Nord, the FS Italiane Group company handling road transport.

Presented today in Barberino del Mugello (Florence) by the Regional Director of Tuscany of Busitalia Sita Nord, Stefano Bonora, the Deputy Mayor of the city, Sara Di Maio, and Regional Councillor Vincenzo Ceccarelli, were the new Mecerdes Intouro vehicles, measuring 12 metres in length with a capacity of 49 seated and 28 standing passengers, equipped with devices for disabled transport.

All are destined for local transport services that the company carries out in the Mugello area and will mean a significant decrease in the average age of vehicles in circulation by replacing the older buses.

Adorned with Busitalia styling, in line with the Trenitalia fleet of trains for regional passenger services, the new suburban service buses also match the company policies to renew the fleet. All come with high safety standards, maximum comfort for both customers and drivers, environmental benefits and a Euro VI European emission standard. In addition, the accessibility for passengers with reduced mobility has been improved upon through an electric-hydraulic platform.

The 5 new Mercedes Intouro vehicles, bearing an investment value of around 900,000 euro, were purchased with a 55% contribution from the Tuscany Region.

They are part of the fleet of 25 buses to be delivered by the end of February 2019, dedicated to Tuscan suburban services, particularly for the Mugello, Chianti, Florence and Siena lines.

Having commenced in 2014, this is a continuation of the Busitalia fleet renewal plan for Tuscany, seeing these 25 buses added to 33 additional vehicles purchased throughout the last few years.
