Palermo “Passante” line: the Punta Raisi Airport train service is back

61 journeys per day between Palermo Centrale and Punta Raisi, on Jazz and Minuetto trains

Palermo, 6 October 2018

The rail connection between Palermo Centrale station and the “Falcone Borsellino” airport will be restored tomorrow.

The ANSF (National Agency for Railway Safety) has today issued to the FS Italiane Group, through its subsidiary, RFI, an  ‘Authorisation to Place in Service’ (AMIS) for this Palermo line. Work to refurbish the rail connection to Punta Raisi was completed at the end of July.

On Sunday, the first train to the airport will leave at 6.05 a.m. from Palermo Centrale station; in the other direction, the last departure from Punta Raisi is scheduled for 09:52 p.m. On non-working days the business offer from Trenitalia (FS Italiane Group) for the airport comprises 61 trains to the airport each day - using Jazz and Minuetto trains - at a frequency of two express service trains per hour and one per hour stopping at all stations. As well as the airport link, the opening of the Passante line will once more offer Palermo commuters a comfortable and welcome metropolitan connection. Information on the stops can be found on trenitalia.com.

From tomorrow, in addition to the trains, two new stops will also be in service, at La Malfa and Sferracavallo.
