Milan, 20 September 2017
FS Italiane will be working alongside the Italian Paralympic Committee (CIP) to support the Ambassadors of Paralympic Sport.
The initiative, presented today at Milan's Central Station, was set up to promote - through the experience of a team of 50 great sports champions led by Alex Zanardi - sport for the disabled and promote the opportunities offered by Paralympic sports. All through an ideal journey into schools, health care facilities, and spinal units.
The Ambassadors of Italian Paralympic sports were introduced by Luca Pancalli, Chairman of the Italian Paralympic Committee. The event was attended by Luca Lotti, Minister for Sport, Giuseppe Sala, Mayor of Milan, Roberta Guaineri, Councillor for Tourism, Sport and Quality of Life of the City of Milan, and Antonio Rossi, Councillor for Sport and Youth Policies of the Lombardy Region.
Renato Mazzoncini, CEO and Managing Director of FS Italiane, emphasised that "The entire FS Group has been working for some time to make the travel experience easier for passengers with reduced mobility or with temporary disabilities. Our future strategy confirms our commitment to a clear corporate social responsibility that comes across strongly in our Corporate Shared Value".
The FS Italiane Group was represented by Claudia Cattani, President of Rete Ferroviaria Italiana, and Orazio Iacono, CEO and Managing Director of Trenitalia.
The three Paralympic Champions Bebe Vio (from Venice Santa Lucia), Martina Caironi (from Bologna Centrale) and Giulio Maria Papi (from Roma Termini) travelled to Milan Central station on Trenitalia Freccia trains and their trip as Ambassadors of Italian Paralympic Sport was promoted on the social channels of CIP and FS Italiane with the #CuoreParalimpico hashtag.
