Rome, 2 May 2017
A delegation from the National Railway Infrastructure Company (NRIC), the infrastructure manager of Bulgarian railways, was welcomed today by Maurizio Gentile, the MD and Director General of Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI), for a study visit to Italy.
The visit forms part of a project which has been co-financed by the European Commission called “Better railway infrastructure projects through better knowledge”, which has the aim of sharing the best practices of the continent’s railway infrastructure managers. One particular aim of the visit is to strengthen NRIC’s administrative and technical capacity in projects that are backed by European funds.
The Bulgarian delegation, which is led by the vice director general for Operations, Zlatin Angelov Krumov, will have two study days meeting the various operational parts of RFI and to deal with issue of managing investments in rail infrastructure: public tender strategies, economic-financial analysis, environmental impact, expropriation and issues linked to inter-operability.
The delegates will also visit Tiburtina station in Rome, the number two hub in the Italian capital by volume and type of traffic, and an example of an investment already made in integrating various transport methods.
