Rome, 13th June 2016
A new freight link between the Brescia terminal and the port of Rotterdam.
The service has been activated by Cemat in partnership with Trenitalia, a company belonging to the Italian State Railways Group.
The first train is scheduled to depart from Rotterdam terminal today and, in the opposite direction, the first departure is scheduled for Wednesday, June 15th.
During the first phase, the trains will travel three times per week each way, with the objective of quickly reaching five journeys in each direction every week.
The connection allows linking this important Northern European port with the Brescia economic area in just 36 hours, and completes Cemat’s offer, which already provides daily connections between Rotterdam and Novara, Busto Arsizio and Verona.
Currently, the Rotterdam-Brescia link can transport cargo units with a maximum height of 3.86 metres.
Thanks to the infrastructure upgrading works on the train line, it will be possible to transport units with a height up to 3.90 metres from October.
The new service will be marketed in partnership with the Swiss company Hupac.
