Rome, 11th November 2015
The CEO of the Italian Railway Group, Michele Mario Elia, today met the British Secretary of State for Transport, Patrick McLoughlin.
The meeting was the perfect occasion for presenting the Italian High Speed train Frecciarossa 1000 to the British delegation. Thanks to its cutting-edge technology, it can operate in the main European countries, and it takes the highest levels of Italian skill and experience in the railway market to the international market.
During the meeting, the CEO of FS Italiane Elia also presented the European ERTMS level 2 signalling system to the British delegation. It is a system that uses the most advanced technology for managing railway traffic safely, and the first HS network to use it was Italian.
Elia showed how the FS Group is constantly searching for new business opportunities, paying particular attention to the international scene, and as such the development of the passenger transport market in the United Kingdom. Trenitalia is interested in the tenders.
The High Speed 2 (HS2) project is another interesting opportunity.
Involvement with Italferr, the railway engineering company of the Group that has been operating in Europe, Central Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, Africa and Australia for more than 25 years, can offer high quality and efficiency thanks to its extensive international experience in the works design and production field.
Italcertifer can also contribute to the success of HS2: its wide experience in the certification, qualification and experimentation of infrastructures, signalling and equipping rolling stock is known all over the world.
The Minister and the British delegation will travel on Frecciarossa 1000 from Rome to Naples. The Trenitalia supertrain, designed and built to reach a maximum speed of 400 km/h and an operating speed of 360 km/h, guarantees acceleration, adherence, braking and safety performances par excellence.
