14th May 2018
Enel and Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane have launched a collaboration for the development of innovative projects in the fields of transport and energy, with a particular focus on electric mobility and energy efficiency. Through a platform dedicated to the initiative, challenges will be launched to collect ideas and solutions related to innovation and sustainability by means of crowdsourcing.
“Open Innovability for a better world” is the topic of the #EnelFocusOn talk held today, 14th May, in San Francisco and that can also be viewed via live stream. Central to the talk is the speech on the benefits of Open Innovation for Sustainability by Economist Henry Chesbrough, the father of Open Innovation and Director of the Garwood Center for Corporate Innovation at the Haas School of Business, University di Berkeley.
Presented today was the challenge on integrated mobility, with the collaboration between Enel and Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane. They are looking for solutions to create a virtual assistant that can help users plan their trips, generating alternative solutions in the area of electric mobility. The solutions must be intermodal, integrated and personalised, even in cases of potential disruptions. The deadline for sending proposals on the development of web-based or smartphone applications to support integrated journey planning is the 11th of July 2018. The reward is a partnership with the seeker and 5.000$.
Those that can participate in the call for ideas by sending innovative projects and solutions are: start-ups, independent innovators, universities, research centres, potential partner organisations, NGOs, associations, and employees.
In the I have a project section, participants can propose their ideas or solutions, even if they are not among the challenges active at that time.
The idea, supported by Ernesto Ciorra, Enel’s Head of Innovation & Sustainability, is based on the recognition that new, successful ideas can stem from the collaboration between subjects from very different ecosystems.
