Milan, 1 July 2025
This morning, at the Borsa Italiana’s headquarters in Milan, FS Group held a 'Ring the Bell' ceremony following the issue of an EUR 800 million Green Bond.
The transaction fits perfectly into the Group's strategy, led by CEO and General Manager Stefano Antonio Donnarumma, focused on environmental protection and social responsibility, thus confirming the company's leadership in terms of volume of green bonds among Italian issuers.
‘Today - said Fabio Paris, CFO of FS Group, - we are not only ringing the bell to celebrate a successful financial transaction, but above all to tell a story of commitment, sustainability and focus on the future. Indeed, we have just issued our tenth EUR 800 million Green Bond, since 2017, bringing the total outstanding amount to over EUR 5.7 billion. No corporation in Italy contributes more to this sector than us'.
The funds raised will be used for work on the railway infrastructure, in particular to complete the Turin-Milan-Naples high-speed network and to finance projects such as the maintenance of Trenitalia's electric passenger trains. Previous green bond issues were invested in rolling stock for freight transport, in innovating local mobility by purchasing regional trains, and in HS transport with the Frecciarossa 1000 - true symbols of Italian excellence, much appreciated even abroad.
The response from the financial community was not long in coming: orders far exceeded the offer, involving more than 100 investors, in a particularly complex context marked by geopolitical tensions and the escalation in the Middle East in the days leading up to the issue. Around 90% of the orders came from ESG-conscious investors, confirming the value of FS Group's contribution to the transport sector and energy transition.
The deal also represents the first green public issue by an Italian corporation with a significant order from the European Investment Bank (EIB), which further enhanced its prestige.
With the listing on Borsa Italiana's electronic bond market, FS reaffirmed its confidence in the Italian capital market - a growing focal point - capable of connecting solid companies and responsible investors. A market open to Europe, and yet deeply rooted in the country's industrial and infrastructural excellence.
