Today, the Carabinieri Corps and the FS Italiane Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the Scuola Ufficiali Carabinieri in Rome, aimed at launching lasting and structured cooperation to protect legality, fight criminal infiltration and support safety in the workplace and on infrastructure worksites managed by the Group.

The agreement signed by the Commander General of the Carabinieri Corps, Army Corps General Teo Luzi and FS Italiane Group CEO Luigi Ferraris is part of the investments envisaged by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan and the complementary national fund for the construction and renewal of infrastructure works and train fleet of the Group. Thanks to this significant agreement, close cooperation between the Carabinieri Corps and Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane will be established to guarantee broader prevention and control activities, strengthening the initiatives in which the FS Group is already engaged, also through its subsidiaries.

Today’s protocol between the Carabinieri and the Ferrovie dello Stato Group is an important driving force from the perspective of occupational safety and environmental protection,” underlined General Luzi. “The professionalism of the Corps, together with that of the FS Group operators, will now work even more closely together to safeguard these two fundamental aspects for us and for the entire country.”

The Carabinieri and the FS Group are institutions at the service of the country and of Italians who have always worked with dedication and a sense of belonging to make Italy safer and more competitive,” explains Luigi Ferraris, CEO of FS Italiane. “With this agreement, the FS Group further strengthens its commitment to protecting legality and security – as the founding principles of Ferrovie dello Stato’s social and industrial identity.”

In detail, the agreement foresees activities to verify compliance with regulations on the placement of labour, social security and safety in the workplace, preventing and combating the phenomenon of criminal infiltration, including through the control of worksites for the construction of FS Italiane Group infrastructure, along with preventing and combating environmental violations, including those related to infiltration by organised crime in the execution of works that may constitute forms of environmental pollution. Within the scope of the agreement, the FS Italiane Group will also be able to promote and organise meetings, seminars and training courses for its employees, with the cooperation of experts from the Carabinieri Corps.
