Trenitalia: over 22,000 places offered to students in Abruzzo today

The number of passengers transported rises by 23%

Pescara, 13 September 2021

As of today, there are more than 22,000 spots on regional trains available for students in the region of Abruzzo during the hours of school travel, able to adequately accommodate the streams of passengers, in compliance with the restriction for 80% occupancy of the total approved places (seated or standing), established by current regulations.

To cope with the increase in the number of students, Trenitalia (FS Italiane Group) has increased the availability of spots available throughout the region, adapting the composition of trains where necessary. In particular, the total number of places on the morning trains along the Sulmona-Pescara line has been increased by about 20%.

The rise in supply proved sufficient, given that there were no cases of overcrowding. With over 3,000 passengers registered on morning trains, the opening of schools in Abruzzo showed a 23% increase in passengers compared to last Monday.

Customer assistance has been bolstered during school entry/exit times, in particular within the stations of Pescara Centrale, Pescara PN, Carsoli and Avezzano.

Mobility flows are monitored in real time, so as to be able to promptly intervene on any peaks in turnout with additional services (substitute bus or train), at the ready in the main locations.
