Iran Rail Expo 2016: Chairman of Iranian Railways Visits the FS Group’s Stand

The Chairman of Iranian Railways (RAI), Mohsen Pour Seyed Aghaei, visited the Italian State Railways’ stand at Iran Rail Expo 2016 in Teheran, featuring the Group’s firms Trenitalia, Rete Ferroviaria Italiana, Italferr and Italcertifer.

Meanwhile, the planned work is going ahead in accordance with the timelines set out under the framework cooperation agreement between the Italian State Railways Group (FS) and the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways (RAI) in a contractual document signed in Teheran on 12th April this year by the CEO of FS, Renato Mazzoncini, and the Deputy Minister for Transport and Chairman of RAI, Mohsen Pour Seyed Aghaei, in the presence of the Italian Prime Minister, Matteo Renzi and the President of Iran, Hassan Rouhani.

The Italian FS Group, as General Contractor, will carry out the planning, construction, testing and start-up of the Qom – Arak and then Teheran – Hamedan high-speed lines.

In accordance with the contractual document, the Italian FS Group is already working with RAI (Iranian Railways) to arrange the courses of the complete training programme for the Iranian Railways’ staff.

Also under the said framework agreement:

  • the train operator Trenitalia (subsidiary of FS) is going global as a supplier of services to a foreign rail operator;

  • Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (the Italian rail network) is sharing its expertise on the management of a leading high-speed and conventional rail network;

  • the component and system certification body Italcertifer will be designing and constructing a test centre for the rolling stock in Iran;

  • and, finally, the Italian State Railways engineering firm Italferr, having just finished an important consultancy contract for RAI (Iranian Railways), is to plan the high-speed (Qom-Arak and Teheran-Hamedan) lines under the framework contract signed by the Italian State Railways (FS).
