Politecnico di Milano: Renato Mazzoncini holder of course in Mobility Infrastructure and Services

In the second year of the Laurea magistrale study programme in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering

The commitment of FS Italiane is improved in its collaboration with Universities: Renato Mazzoncini, CEO and Director General of FS Italiane, has been appointed as holder of the course in "Mobility: Infrastructure and Services" (entirely in English), within the second year of the laurea magistrale study programme in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering of Politecnico di Milano.

A Protocol of understanding for scientific cooperation was signed by FS Italiane and Politecnico di Milano.

The agreement has been signed today in the Aula Magna of Politecnico by Renato Mazzoncini and professor Ferruccio Resta, Rector Magnificus of Politecnico di Milano.

The cooperation between FS Italiane and Politecnico di Milano, of 2 years, provides:

  • joint training and guidance activities for university students;
  • collaborations for studies and researches on subjects of common interest;
  • organization of conferences, debates and seminars;
  • development of strategic projects dedicated to development of innovative technologies, with the involvement of Gruppo FS Italiane companies.

 "This agreement, which aims to foster the promotion of scientific research in our country," underlines Renato Mazzoncini, CEO and Director General of FS Italiane, "is part of the wide programme of initiatives that Gruppo FS Italiane promotes in collaboration with Universities of primary importance and relevance on territory, to help students in developing strategic skills and an innovative point of view, both useful to enter the world of work and to make those big changes needed to improve the system of collective mobility. Changes needed and no longer possible to be postponed for the development of the whole Country system."

"Mobility is one of the areas in which Politecnico di Milano can be considered as a driver of innovation," says Ferruccio Resta, Rector of the University, "together with FS Italiane, we will further boost this sector. In particular, we are very proud to launch the new educational career in Mobility: Infrastructure and Services, with one of our best Alumnus as professor. It is an important message for our students, to understand that the preparation they receive allows them to better enter the highest levels of the world of work." The course - 62 hours of lesson, between 22 September and 18 December 2017 - is characterized by lectures and meetings with the top manager of Gruppo FS Italiane with practical laboratories, project work and technical visits.

Objective: to provide students with a systemic point of view of the transport world (global and market services, regional and medium-long distance, TPL and freight) and of integrated mobility, railway and road infrastructures, stations as inter-modal hubs and finally the new idea of Extended customer experience.

The students, that will have time until 2 October to customize their Study Plan with the new course, will be able to take advantage of ten scholarships, each one of 2.500 euro.

The deadline to submit the applications, through the Web site of Politecnico di Milano, is 6 October 2017.
