Domenico Scida graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Calabria, achieving a top mark of 110/110 with honours. Following an initial role at Alenia Aeronautica (Finmeccanica Group), he joined Trenitalia in 2002, where he built up a career involving positions of responsibility in the areas of maintenance, railway operations and transport services management.
Having held various management roles within Rolling Stock Maintenance, he served as Head of Operations for the Long-Distance Universal Service from 2013 to 2017. In 2017, he was appointed Regional Director for Calabria, a post he held until 2021.
Since 2021, he has been the Intercity Business Director, responsible for national Intercity services and the international Crossborder Eurocity and Euronight services. Since April 2025, he has held the post of Technical Director at Trenitalia, overseeing maintenance, engineering, rolling stock management and the Integrated Safety and Quality Management System.
In addition to his corporate roles, he has been a General Councillor of Agens since 2021, Editor-in-Chief of the magazine La Tecnica Professionale since 2026, and Chair of the Rolling Stock Sector of the Railway System Forum of the UIC (International Union of Railways) since 2026.
He has been a member of the Institute of Engineers since 2000.
