Launch of FS Logistix: the new digital platform for end-to-end freight transport is now online

First step of the 2025-2029 Strategic Plan for logistics. The evolution of the FS Group company presented in Rome. 2.16 billion investments in digitisation and asset development

Rome, 26 May 2025

A new direction for FS Group logistics kicked off today in Rome, with the presentation of the FS Logistix brand and the end-to-end integrated digital freight transport platform fslogistix.com. This project marks the beginning of an ambitious journey to transform and relaunch freight transport, with a clear vision: to build an increasingly integrated, sustainable and customer-oriented European logistics system.

The event took place in Rome, in the presence of Sabrina De Filippis, Managing Director of FS Logistix, Antonio Brunacci, FS Logistix Director of Strategies and TID, and Leopoldo Destro, Confindustria's Delegate for Transport, Logistics and the Tourism and Culture Industry.

‘The integrated digital platform represents an indispensable piece of FS Group's 2025-2029 Strategic Plan for logistics, which envisages 2.16 billion euros in investments for digitalisation and asset development,’ said Sabrina De Filippis, CEO of FS Logistix. Our goal is serving as an interconnection platform for all logistics operators, activating new partnerships to cover the entire value chain and intercepting the best Italian and European expertise. A development accompanied by a new identity with an increasingly European profile: with FS Logistix, we keep our roots firmly in rail freight transport, making it modern and efficient, evolving towards the Freight Forwarder model.

A digital platform connecting supply and demand

The new platform presented today is the first concrete result of the FS Group's 2025-2029 Strategic Plan for logistics, which envisages 2.16 billion euros of investment. A development that, among other things, focuses on the pillar of digitalisation to better respond to the needs of a constantly evolving market, through a completely client-centric approach. It was designed as a single interface for Italian and international customers, and it allows integrated management of the entire logistics chain by combining rail, road and sea transport with customised solutions, end-to-end traceability and sustainability. An innovative digital infrastructure, integrating the eight companies that make up the FS Group's logistics division, serving 7 industrial sectors with 21 transport and logistics services. The Widget is the beating heart of the new site: by completing the fields, it allows users to send their transport requests to FS Logistix, accompanying them from the first contact to the final solution, and enabling the one-click experience.

FS Logistix: the new name for FS Logistics

The birth of the FS Logistix brand marks a step change for FS Logistics. Present in 22 countries, with seven operating companies and more than 50 million tonnes of freight transported annually, FS Logistix takes over the legacy of Mercitalia Logistics with the aim of becoming a European Freight Forwarder, i.e. an operator capable of managing the entire logistics value chain on a continental level. A new naming conceived precisely to enhance the company's evolution towards a distinctly European profile, through clarity and dynamism, immediate association with the business offered, international recognition and reference to the FS holding company.

Investment, sustainability and innovation at the heart of the strategy

FS Group's strategic roadmap envisages targeted investments in fleet renewal (110 electric locomotives, 25 shunting locomotives, 2,000 new-generation wagons, a green ship for the ferry over the Strait of Messina), terminal development and process digitisation. All this with a strong focus on environmental sustainability, energy efficiency and emission reduction, in line with the FS Group's climate targets.

Logistics at the industry and country’s service

FS Logistix was created to respond to a concrete need: to make more efficient, intermodal and resilient logistics available to the real economy, capable of strengthening the competitiveness of Italian and European industry. With this new course, FS Group consolidates its role as a strategic player for the country’s sustainable growth, in a logic of innovation and long-term industrial vision.
