FS Italiane is a Premium partner of the 2026 Milan-Cortina Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games

The partnership was launched today at Roma Ostiense

Rome, 18 December 2023 - Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane and the Milan-Cortina 2026 Foundation join together to celebrate the universal values of sport.

The FS Group will be a Premium partner of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, an event that represents a strategic driver and accelerator of growth for Italy’s national development.

The partnership - which will make a decisive and integrated contribution to the event’s transport plan - was presented today at the Roma Ostiense station by Andrea Abodi, Minister for Sport and Youth, Giovanni Malagò, President of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Foundation and President of the Italian National Olympic Committee, Luca Pancalli, Vice-President of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Foundation and President of the Italian Paralympic Committee, Andrea Varnier, Managing Director of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Foundation and, for the FS Italiane Group, Nicoletta Giadrossi, Chairwoman and Luigi Ferraris, Managing Director.

Conscious that sport represents an important element to be shared by Italy’s leading players, FS has committed its companies and four business units to enhancing the events planned within the Milan Cortina 2026 programme.

The FS Infrastructure Business Unit will focus on providing strengthened support, especially to people with reduced mobility, by putting in extra measures and strengthening ordinary maintenance at railway stations and on the main railway lines to and from the Olympic and Paralympic areas, while the Passengers Business Unit will increase train and bus connections by offering special promotions and pre-paid ticket books.

The FS Group’s Urban Business Unit will take care of the logistics and intermodal transport hub areas by providing new parking areas around the event sites, and will be involved in the process to regenerate the sports venues. Finally, the Logistics Business Unit will be entrusted with strengthening the logistical facilities and optimising services through regional centres in the area managed by the Business Unit.

For the Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane Group, the partnership with the Milan Cortina 2026 Foundation represents an opportunity to enhance and implement the enabling factors of its Industrial Plan. In the case of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, it will do so by ensuring effective, reliable and safe transport for all participants and residents, promoting the use of rail and sustainable transport.

MILAN-CORTINA FOUNDATION 2026

The objective of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Foundation, in concert with the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI), the Italian Paralympic Committee (CIP), the Cities of Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, the Veneto and Lombardy Regions, and the Autonomous Provinces of Trento and Bolzano, is to plan, organise, finance and implement the Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. Established on 9 December 2019, the Milan-Cortina 2026 Foundation is headed by Chairman Giovanni Malagò and CEO Andrea Varnier.
