The CEO and the Managing Director of Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane will be re-elected Chairman of the Union Internationale des Chemins de fer (UIC), Global organization of Rail transport operators.
The General Assembly that met in Madrid, unanimously requested Renato Mazzoncini’s availability for a second term as Chairman of UIC (2019-2020). Request which he has accepted.
«I am proud to be asked to proceed for the next two years with the important reform process that we started under my first mandate as Chairman of UIC. This is an important task which is in line with the national and international development plan of Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane, initiated in 2016, which is to increase the Group’s total turnover by up to 40%», explains Mazzoncini. «Together with our global partners, we are achieving relevant results in securing safer railway systems, we are implementing more and more public, collective and shared mobility systems, for passenger and freight, always in view of a better regional integration that brings continents such as Europe and Asia together (One Belt One Road)».
UIC is an international organisation that groups all major stakeholders of the Rail industry together, more than 200 corporations of more than 100 countries, operating in all five regions in the world. The mission of UIC is to promote rail transport globally, to meet the challenge of mobility and sustainability.
