Lecco - Tirano

The project is part of the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games Milano Cortina 2026 renovation programme, which includes modifications to the stations and works aimed at eliminating 12 level crossings on the Lecco - Tirano line, as well as on the Colico - Sondrio and Sondrio - Tirano sections along the Stelvio State Road SS38.

Specific works to upgrade the infrastructure focused on improving the efficiency of the junctions at Mandello, Lierna, Ardenno, S. Pietro Berbenno, Colico and Tirano. In addition to these facilities, further works carried out under the agreement on the development and upgrading of the Valtellina and Valchiavenna lines have been completed in Bellano, Ponte in Valtellina and Dubino. In addition to modifications to the station tracks, the works also included extensive accessibility improvements, including the construction of underpasses, new platforms and the optimisation of access routes to the stations.

Aldo Isi was appointed Extraordinary Government Commissioner for the completion of the works.
