The project involves the doubling of the Codogno–Cremona–Mantua section in phases.
The first phase involves the doubling of the Piadena–Mantua section, covering a total length of approximately 34 km, whilst the second phase involves the doubling of the Codogno – Piadena section, covering approximately 50 km.
The first phase of the project involves widening the section between Piadena and Mantua, with the work divided into two distinct sub-phases. The first involves the doubling of the Piadena–Bozzolo section, including improvements to the line’s performance, the removal of level crossings, and work to extend the tracks to a length of 750 m at the Marcaria and Bozzolo stations. The second involves the doubling of the track from Bozzolo to Mantua.
The second phase of the overall project, on the other hand, involves the doubling of the single-track sections between Cremona and Piadena and between Codogno and Cava Tigozzi.
The project has received partial public funding, including through NRRP funds, and work is currently underway on track doubling and to remove level crossings as part of the first phase.
