This project includes a doubling of the Rome-Pescara line between Lunghezza and Guidonia, with an extension of about 10 kilometres, most of which will be constructed alongside the existing line.

There are also plans to upgrade the Bagni di Tivoli station, to build a new station in Collefiorito to replace the existing Guidonia Montecelio station, to install noise barriers and to eliminate level crossings along the section.

Vincenzo Macello was appointed Extraordinary Governmental Commissioner for completion of the works.

Advantages

An increase in capacity (from 4 to 10 trains/hour) with extension from Lunghezza to Guidonia of the metropolitan service with a 15-degree cadence.
Improvement of traffic regularity and optimisation of rolling stock management by increasing the number of tracks for parking with the new Guidonia Collefiorito location involving the elimination of currently-scheduled dispatches.
Improved accessibility thanks to road works, the elimination of level crossings and the construction of interchange car parks at Guidonia Collefiorito and Bagni di Tivoli.
Reduced travel time.
New spaces in the station of the new Guidonia Collefiorito locality.
