Rome, 2 January 2024
January's La Freccia ushers in the New Year wishing its readers a fantastic 2024. We're doing it with multi-talented front cover guest Lorella Cuccarini, the artist who has made change her signature style. Effortlessly switching from music to TV and theatre, the singing coach of Maria De Filippi’s “Amici” talent show will join Amadeus in hosting the Sanremo Festival. She is also making an album of her greatest hits revisited and will be back in the theatre with the musical comedy Aggiungi un posto a tavola.
Lots of trip offers available to let you take a fresh look at Italy. Starting with the mountains, there’s Courmayeur, which offers hiking, indoor climbing and snowshoeing in natural surroundings, and Cortina d'Ampezzo, gearing up to host the 2026 Winter Olympic Paralympic Games with the FS Group a Premium Partner. We also go to Pesaro, Italian Capital of Culture 2024, for a trek down to Basilicata on the Cammino Materano trail network.
Experience a journey within a journey in the High Speed foyers and on board the Frecce with the 2024 Artistic Calendar of the Fund for Buildings of Worship featuring the Tarvisio Forest in the Friulian Alps: 12 art photographs showing all the seasonal nuances of this nature reserve.
But we’re not leaving out sport. On 3 February, the Guinness Six Nations rugby tournament comes to Rome: the Italian national team – with the Frecciarossa as the official train – takes on England.
We’re also making space for art: the Historical Museum of Infantry in Rome mounts a retrospective of Andy Warhol's 40-year career, from his beginnings in New York to his greatest successes. And at the Palazzo Ducale in Genoa, the Caravaggio-esque, iconoclastic works of Artemisia Gentileschi are on show until 1 April. From 2 to 4 February, collectors and enthusiasts come together at the 50th edition of Bologna’s Arte Fiera, one of Europe's longest-running trade fairs.
Finally, lots of interviews with top showbiz stars: rapper BigMama competing in Sanremo for the first time, Ciro Priello and Fabio Balsamo of The Jackal conducting the quiz show The Floor, actor Pierpaolo Spollon on TV with Doc - Nelle tue mani and new show Karaoke Night, and singer-songwriters Coez and Frah Quintale ready to set off on their double-bill tour.
All this and more in January's La Freccia, available in digital format on FSNews and in take-away print magazine on Trenitalia Frecce trains, in the FRECCIALounge and in FRECCIAClubs. The contents of FS Italiane's monthly magazine can also be read on the FSNews Telegram channel and feeds on X fsnews_it and LaFreccia_Mag.
