The FS Italiane Group is the Official Sponsor of “Trame.11 Festival dei Libri sulle Mafie” – an event dedicated to books on organised crime and scheduled from 22 to 26 June in Lamezia Terme, Calabria.
The partnership reinforces FS Italiane’s commitment to the world of culture and local development, particularly in Italy’s south. With its new 2022-2031 Industrial Plan, the Group plays a key role in the relaunch and development of our country and seeks to play a leading role in “Un Tempo Nuovo” (A New Time), underlining the importance of the historical moment we are experiencing, during which it is crucial to react to and look with confidence at the opportunities that the future holds.
Commitment to the protection of legality and safety are founding principles of Ferrovie dello Stato’s social and industrial identity. The Group has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Carabinieri aimed at initiating a lasting and structured collaboration to protect legality, fight criminal infiltration and uphold safety in the workplace, with a focus on the infrastructure worksites managed by the Group.
The agreement with Trame.11 Festival forms part of this framework, being a consolidated appointment in an area that has been severely tested by criminal organisations, seeing an alternation of debates, book presentations and testimonies by the protagonists of the anti-mafia movements. The 2022 edition takes place at a crucial moment in the history of Italy.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the terrorist-mafia massacres in which Magistrates Giovanni Falcone, Paolo Borsellino, Francesca Morvillo and the agents in their security escorts lost their lives.
With more than 82,000 employees, over 10,000 trains per day, 1 billion train and bus passengers per year and 45 million tonnes of freight annually, Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane is a leader in passenger and freight transport by rail. The Group also promotes and supports the country’s cultural development through agreements with significant events, institutions and internationally-renowned museum hubs, contributing to the creation of a modern, digitised and sustainable mobility system that guarantees the free flow of ideas whilst encouraging the enhancement of Italy’s territories and beauties.
