The FS Group confirms its position as one of the major supporters of the Race for the Cure, the largest event in the fight against breast cancer in Italy and around the world, organised by the Susan G. Komen Italia Association.
In the first leg of the 2022 edition, which will take place in Rome at the Circo Massimo from 5 to 8 May, the FS Scientific Research Prize will be awarded to two researchers committed to fighting breast cancer.
The event is also being promoted through on-board monitors on Trenitalia’s Frecce and Regional trains as well as on the FS Group media channels. In addition, an internal communication campaign invites employees to join the FS team or else to make a donation in support of the activities of the Susan G. Komen Italia Association.
This partnership consolidates FS Italiane’s commitment to the Race for the Cure. For ten years, people in the Group have been taking part in the charity run, helping to raise funds. For nine consecutive years, the FS team has been amongst the most numerous. In 2021, the Group received a plaque celebrating the valuable contribution of all those who made a donation, ranking as the top donor with around 20,000 euro being collected.
For FS Italiane, attention to the individual, solidarity and social responsibility are core values. In this context, the partnership with the Race for the Cure 2022 confirms the Group’s commitment to prevention and corporate social responsibility, alongside important events dedicated to social sustainability and health.
“The FS Italiane Group has chosen to enthusiastically support this initiative, as a virtuous example of how companies can make a positive contribution to the spread of a culture of prevention,” stated Luca Torchia, Chief Communications Officer of FS Italiane. “To further strengthen our commitment, alongside the Race for the Cure and the Susan G. Komen Italia Association, we have decided to establish the FS Scientific Research Prize. The protection of health and well-being, starting with that of our FS Group colleagues, is in fact part of our corporate culture and is a founding principle of FS’ social and industrial identity.”
FS Italiane promotes the development and growth of the country and contributes to the restart not only by creating sustainable infrastructure and guaranteeing the mobility of people and freight for a modern, digitalised and sustainable mobility system, but also by standing amongst civil society for a global restart that, in addition to production activities, also concerns culture, art and tourism, with the aim of generating and distributing shared values with the stakeholders of reference and above all with the people, communities and territories.
The Race for the Cure 2022 and the Villaggi della Salute (Villages of Health) return to seven cities with the aim of highlighting the importance of prevention, promoting a healthy lifestyle and raising funds to carry out research projects and support those who go through breast cancer.
After Rome, the event will head to Bari (13–15 May), Naples (20–22 May), Bologna (16–18 September), Brescia (23–25 September), Matera (30 September–2 October) and Pescara (7–9 October). The Villaggi della Salute will offer free breast and gynaecological screenings as well as controls for other diseases prevalent in women and will even host free workshops on fitness, sport, healthy eating and psychological well-being.
