Ancona, 25 August 2021
Over 20,000 passengers availed of Trenitalia (FS Italiane Group) summer initiatives in the initial part of the season in support of local tourism to reach the beauties of Le Marche.
The numbers are encouraging: the Piceno Line (San Benedetto-Ascoli for the Riviera delle Palme) records a 20% rise in passengers compared to 2020, peaking on the day of 15 August.
This year’s expansion of Marche Line (Piacenza-San Benedetto del Tronto with intermediate stops in Pesaro, Fano, Marotta, Senigallia, Falconara Marittima, Ancona, Porto Recanati, Civitanova, Porto Sant’Elpidio and Porto San Giorgio) records a 30% increase in passengers compared to summer 2020.
Whilst the Conero Link – the direct connection from the station of Ancona to the beaches of the Baia di Portonovo – shows a 50% increase in June alone compared to 2020 sales.
There was also a positive use of the Urbino Link and Fermo Link, a combination of train and bus with the convenience of a single ticket.
The potential of regional trains, also in support of the development of local tourism, is well-known to Trenitalia, which in the series I Regionali da Vivere, created together with Giunti Editore, proposes itineraries to be accessed by train on a discovery of Italy’s beauties. The book Le Marche in Treno was presented in Ancona on 16 June.
