Florence, 12 August 2021

Published today – in agreement with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Sustainable Mobility, FS Sistemi Urbani and the Puglia Region – is the call for tenders for the sale of the Lecce Surbo railway freight yard owned by FS Italiane.

With an area of approximately 85,000 square metres – of which, almost 2,500 square metres are covered – the site is in a strategic position along the Adriatic Coast-Bologna railway line, near Lecce’s west ring road and with connections to the Salento Airport and the main regional ports. The site thus lends itself to becoming a terminal hub for the exchange of goods by rail-road-ship-plane.

The reactivation of the Lecce Surbo freight yard is part of a shared path towards creating a modern logistics hub favouring the enhancement of transport of goods by rail, in line with the strategic objectives of relaunching the productive and logistic fabric of Southern Italy.

The value based on the public procedure is 1,600,000 euro. The deadline for the submission of offers is set for 12 November 2021.
