Genova, 22 May 2020
26 Frecce and InterCity trains return to the tracks, connecting Liguria with the other major Italian cities as of the beginning of June.
Six Frecciabianca trains connect Genoa and Rome, with three heading north and three south along the Tyrrhenian line. Two of these also connect Genoa and Rome with Turin.
Eight InterCity trains travel between Liguria and Turin, Rome, Naples and Salerno, with all intermediate stops.
Twelve InterCity trains operate between Milan and Liguria, of which 2 also reach and depart from Livorno.
Trenitalia (FS Italiane Group) thus increases the number of trains available as of the second step of Phase 2 of the health emergency to have commenced as of May 18. The Trenitalia offering - which from early June includes 74 Frecce and 48 InterCity trains nationally, along the main routes of the country - increases with a number of connections congruous with the demand for mobility throughout this period, taking into account the 50% seat availability due to the “chequerboard” reservation system that guarantees the respect of social distancing.
As of today, tickets for all the new offers for medium- and long-distance trains are available through Trenitalia’s sales systems, with the priority being to safeguard people’s health in the utmost respect of the regulations in force.
Passengers can thus start to arrange their train travel not only for business purposes but also for leisure and tourism in the coming summer season, being essential for reviving national and local tourism, especially in small- and medium-sized towns with high cultural and landscape attractiveness.
