The FS Italiane Group, to celebrate the historic link with the Academy of which it is a founding member, has long recognized individuals with the Frecciarossa 1000 Award, which is awarded each year to a young artist who is protagonist to the new musical season. This year the award was given to young Canadian pianist Jan Lisiecki, confirming the commitment of Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane to support the world of culture and the arts.
The award ceremony took place yesterday evening at the Auditorium Parco della Musica on the occasion of Orchestra of the National Academy of Santa Cecilia's concert conducted by Maestro Antonio Pappano in their performance of Symphony no. 40 k 550 by Mozart and in Chopin's Piano Concerto n. 2.
At the piano, Jan Lisiecki, one of the most interesting talents to emerge over the last few years who, at only 23 years of age, is held in high regard by critics for his maturity and refined technique that makes him an ideal interpreter of Chopin's music.
An artist whose great humanity is perceived not only through his music but also thanks to his humanitarian commitment to which Jan devotes time and concert performances with organizations such as: the David Foster Foundation, the Polish Humanitarian Organization, and the Wish Upon a Star Foundation. In 2012 Jan Lisiecki was elected UNICEF Ambassador for Canada of which he has been a young national representative since 2008.
