Pietrarsa Railway Museum: special days to celebrate the inauguration

Friday 31 March from 15.00 to 20.00, Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 April from 9.30 to 19.30
Guided tours, virtual tour of the legendary Bayard, trip on the historic train Pietrarsa Express and other initiatives

Special days at Museo Nazionale Ferroviario of Pietrarsa to celebrate the conclusion of the redevelopment works of the whole complex.

Friday 31 March (from 15.00 up to 20.00) at the conclusion of the visit of the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella, and Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 April (from 9.30 to 19.30) it will be possible to enter in the Museum and attend the program full of initiatives, provided with a symbolic reduced price of entrance.

Below the  programme, in detail:

-          guided tours of the whole museum collection, with the opportunity to see the last railway locomotives and vintage coaches, fully restored;

-          “Virtual tour” of the legendary Bayard, the innovative multimedia attraction that, thanks to audio and video effects of augmented reality, relive the birth of the Railway in Italy;

-          screening of the short film “Un Viaggio Lungo 100 anni” by Pupi Avati, in Sala Cinema;

-          tour of the Museum on board of the “Bayardino”, the nice train on wheels that brings the guests through the pavilions;

-          exposition of historic uniforms of FS, in Sala Macchinari d’Officina;

-          photo exhibition  “I Viaggi sul treno presidenziale”, in the charming pavilion known as “la Cattedrale” (The Cathedral), because of its impressive pointed arches, characteristic of churches;

-          route of the steam locomotive along the rails of the central avenue, from the Statue of Ferdinando II to the pavilion of the refreshment point.

 

Only on Saturday 1 April:

-          guided tours at scheduled times (at 11:00 – 12:30 – 15:00 – 17:00);

-          musical performance by the students of a local elementary school (at 12:00);

-         people in clothes of 700 and 800, starting from the Sala delle Locomotive (only in the afternoon, starting from 16:30)

-          “street food” on the seaside terrace.

Only on Sunday 2 April:

-          “Pietrarsa Express”, journey on the historic train, from the centre of Naples to the Museum;

-          guided tours at scheduled times (at  11:00 – 12:30 – 15:00 – 17:00);

-          recreational tours designed for children with the initiative “Detective al Museo” (Detective at the Museum) (at 11:30 and 12:30);

-          classical music in the room of 500;

-          “street food” on the seaside terrace.

Fees and tickets :

The entrance at the Museo, with free visit and opportunity to participate in the planned initiatives, for a symbolic price of two Euro (adult, 18 years and older), of one Euro (young, 6-18, less than 18 years). The entrance is free for children under 6 years of age, and young person that comes with at least one paying adult (maximum 2 young persons per adult).

For this event only, tickets can be purchased only the day of the event at the ticket office of the Museum.
