Milan, 23 November 2017
For the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, 25 November, FS Italiane has renewed their partnership with WeWorld Onlus for the campaign to raise awareness of the issue of "witnessed violence", experienced by children who witness their mother being abused at home.
Up until 30 November, the FS Italiane Group will be supporting the NGO that has been fighting for the rights of women and children in Italy and abroad for nearly twenty years, providing visibility for the "TimeOut. Non c'è più tempo" campaign on the monitors on board Frecciarossa, Frecciargento trains and the regional Jazz, Swing and Minuetto trains.
Thanks to FS Italiane Group's support, a fundraising initiative has been launched to collect the change from tickets issued by self-service machines, with funds going towards the five Spazi Donna centres created in the most problematic areas of Naples, Palermo and Rome by WeWorld Onlus to assist women in difficult situations and encourage victims of violence to re-enter society and the workplace.
«Gender violence, and specifically violence involving mothers and children, is a problem that affects the whole of society, not just women,» commented Claudia Cattani, President of Rete Ferroviaria Italiana. «For this reason, the Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane Group works alongside associations like WeWorld that work every day to protect women experiencing violence. Our support, awareness and information campaigns aim to play an active part in a culture of change, based on new policies of social inclusion and solidarity.»
We believe that in order to improve a child's life, you also need to change the living conditions of a woman.
WeWorld is an independent Italian NGO recognised by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. WeWorld Onlus is present in Italy, Asia, Africa and Latin America.
Children and women are the focus of WeWorld Onlus projects, in five strategic areas: education, health, gender equality and women's rights, protection and participation. Thanks to the donations by 40,000 supporters, WeWorld projects have directly or indirectly helped one million people worldwide.
WeWorld Onlus provides concrete assistance to children, women and their communities by encouraging change and social inclusion.
