L’Aquila, 11th June 2016
Freccialink is born: the Trenitalia High Speed link reaches L'Aquila.
Thanks to an integrated Coach plus Frecce AV service, from tomorrow, June 12th, with the new railway timetable, L'Aquila moves closer to Florence, Bologna, Milan, Padua, Venice, Naples and Salerno. And it does so with the comfort, speed and all the advantages offered by Trenitalia’s Frecce service.
The new service was presented today at the station of L'Aquila by Barbara Morgante, CEO of Trenitalia, to the President of the Region of Abruzzo, Luciano D'Alfonso, and to the mayor of L'Aquila Massimo Cialente.
An opportunity for the people of L’Aquila, who travel for business or pleasure; an opportunity for the town, which becomes part of the network of regional capitals served by the High Speed and can therefore begin to benefit directly from a fast, comfortable and widespread service network which, in just a few years, has revolutionised the way of life of millions of Italians, stimulated the flow of tourists, given impetus to economic and trade activities.
There will be four Freccialink per day serving the city, two trips leaving and two arriving.
The two travelling from L'Aquila will leave at 07:50 and 15:50 from the square in front of the railway station, with special 16-seater buses, film-coated with the colours and logos of the brand, to Rome Tiburtina station, where travellers will be met and assisted by Trenitalia staff and accompanied to the Frecciarossa, destination: Florence, Bologna, Milan, Padua, Venice Mestre, Venice Santa Lucia, Naples and Salerno.
Arrivals in L'Aquila, still with the special Freccialink bus, are scheduled at 13:05 and at 19:05, leaving from Salerno, Naples, Venice Santa Lucia, Venice Mestre, Padua, Milan, Bologna and Florence.
Tickets for L'Aquila-Florence-Bologna-Milan-Padua-Venice-Naples and Salerno are already on sale from all Trenitalia’s commercial channels, from the ticket offices to Trenitalia’s website or its App. A single ticket, whose price will be determined by your choice for the Frecciarossa or the Frecciargento departing from or arriving in Rome Tiburtina: class or level of service (First and Second Standard, Premium, Business, Executive) and type of ticket (Basic, Economy, Supereconomy), plus 10 euro, the fixed price for the bus trip, which cannot in any case be sold separately.
The whole trip will be characterised by Frecciarossa and Frecciargento’s bonus service: dedicated staff, assistance, Wi-Fi, drinks with on-board monitors also on the bus.
The timetable has been designed to ensure adequate transfer times from the coach to the train and vice versa. In any case, the Frecce Trenitalia offer, characterised by high frequency and capillarity, allows easily re-routing customers in case of delays or setbacks during the road trip.
