Italferr, the engineering company belonging to the Gruppo FS Italiane, will be selected to assist the Uzbek Railways regarding the implementation of the electrification project of the Angren-Pap line, in the heart of the most productive part of this Asian country.
The contract, valued at approximately $6 million, was awarded through an international tender financed by the World Bank and will last for about 3 years.
The project, in addition to electrification, provides for the supply and installation of technological control systems.
This collaboration is proving to be a successful wager for Italferr on the foreign markets, which was initiated some years ago. Among the most prestigious and ongoing acquisitions, the €60 million contract in Saudi Arabia for the design of the 1,300 km Riyadh-Jubail railway line; the approximately €16 million order form Qatar for the design of electromechanic and civil underground facilities for the North Red Line of the Doha Underground Metro; the €31 million contract of the preliminary design of the new railway network for the Sultanate of Oman; the supervision of the works for the construction of the Eurasia Tunnel in Turkey; together with the design of the connection between the Esmboga airports and Ankara.
All these assignments that confirm the increased leadership of Italferr in grand scheme of things for this large global engineering company.
