Italferr, the engineering company belonging to the Gruppo FS Italiane, will be selected to assist the Iranian Railways (RAI) in the contractual definition of the tender regarding the design and construction of the 410 km High Speed line, which will connect Tehran to Qom and Isfahan, the major cities of the Islamic republic.
The contract, with duration of 4 months, for a total of about €700 thousand, will provide technical and economic advice and participation with the client during price negotiations and contractual terms with the CREC Chinese contractor who will carry out the work.
Last December, FS Italiane's CEO, Renato Mazzoncini, met with Iran's Deputy Minister of Transport, Aghaei, the president of RAI (Iranian Railways), while in January, the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Graziano Delrio, and his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Akhoundi, signed a Memorandum of Understanding for our country's co-operation in the development of the Iranian railway network.
Iran's railway infrastructure extends for about 10,000 kilometres, and envisions an extension of the network of up to 25,000 km in 2025; 7,500 km of lines of which are already under construction.
