Rome, 19 December 2016
Fifty-six young secretaries of legation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation met the heads of the Italian State Railway’s international development today at Villa Patrizi in Rome to examine various aspects of the sector: from the role of infrastructure in the evolution of the global railway market to railway legislation in Europe; from the FS Italiane company’s penetration on the world stage to the new Industrial Plan 2017-2026 which outlines the Group’s strategies over the next ten years; and even Italferr’s success abroad, FS Italiane’s engineering company.
Following the welcome speech by Mauro Ghilardi, the Director of Human Resources and Organisation at FS, proceedings were got under way by Giovanni Rocca, the FS Group’s head of international promotion, focusing on the importance of the high-tech, innovative Italian railway infrastructure for foreign markets. Maria Rosaria Costa and Ilaria De Dominicis respectively gave an overview of European railways and the Industrial Plan.
Carlo Carganico, the CEO of Italferr, then gave a speech on how foreign experience and the know-how of this engineering company have paved the way for major breakthroughs on the international market, frequently beating competition from leading companies in the sector.
How the world of Italian diplomacy can make a decisive contribution to the international development of Italian companies was also discussed at the seminar.
