21 June 2021
From 21 to 25 June, talents, companies, institutions and associations shall meet in Catania and online at Make in South & Opening Isola – five days of discussions on and explorations of the potential of the Mediterranean basin to speak about innovative projects and ideas for developing the territory.
Make in South is a cultural and operational platform that connects companies, innovators, startuppers and institutions to fuel the debate on innovation, support entrepreneurship and offer opportunities for discussion, experimentation and sharing of good practices.
FS Italiane, as a friend of Make in South, shall take part in the works through a speech by Franco Stivali, Chief Innovation Officer of the FS Group, as part of the panel “Impact, Sustainability, Infrastructure”, scheduled for today at 5:00 pm. Throughout the event, the spaces of Isola dedicated to co-working, training and innovation will be officially opened at the historic Palazzo Biscari in Catania.
By participating in the foundation of this new Innovation hub, Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane confirms its commitment to being involved in transformation processes through an Open Innovation approach, capable of intercepting new business opportunities, aligning the company with the innovation ecosystem that develops outside corporate confines. The project for the creation of a network of FS Innovation Hubs is also heading in this direction, with spaces for the sharing and fusion of ideas, where companies can learn from startups about how to integrate new technologies into their industrial processes. Indeed, by 2023, in addition to those in Rome and Naples already launched, FS Italiane plans to open another five thematic Innovation Hubs dedicated respectively to the themes of Smart City and Tourism in: Reggio Calabria (Protection of the Territory), Puglia (Logistics and Freight), Milan (Industry), Turin (Mobility) and Bologna (Agrifood).
