Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane and IBM strengthen their collaboration with a new project that improves the customer experience of travellers through artificial intelligence solutions.
Thanks to the new cloud-based cognitive platform, FS Italiane will be in a position to provide people with assistance services, twenty-four hours a day, with content and advice based on personal habits and preferences. Through a natural language, a virtual assistant will propose predefined offers to users, speeding up and simplifying the choice, purchase and planning of the itinerary.
This innovative solution will offer people an integrated digital travel experience and will make it possible for FS Italiane staff to be constantly updated with regard to services provided and to give real time responses to any needs.
“We try to offer our customers an extremely high-level travel experience”, Gianluigi Castelli, President of Fs Italiane Group, underlined. “The company has planned to invest 6 billion euro in technology in the 2019-2023 Industrial Plan, in order to permit a digital transformation of our businesses. In particular, we are studying how cutting-edge solutions can offer personalized travel experiences to our customers, who are increasingly looking for integrated trips, without interruption and with customised travel advice".
"The exponential technologies available to us today - says Enrico Cereda President and CEO of IBM Italy - allow farsighted companies like FS Italiane to expand and improve their business models, offering their customers increasingly advanced services. Digital reinvention supported by the potential of artificial intelligence and cloud computing, offers great opportunities for Italy to grow in terms of efficiency and productivity. FS Italiane is seizing these opportunities, continuing its innovative journey for itself and for the country”.
