FS Italiane strengthens cooperation with Turkish Railways

Ankara, 8th May 2018

Technical training activities for railway line maintenance personnel, specialized courses for Turkish Railway engineers (TCDD), management of railway logistics centres, and railway diagnostic operations. These are the cornerstones of the joint efforts between Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane and TCDD, which strengthens a ten-year cooperation, signed today by Renato Mazzoncini, CEO and General Manager of FS Italiane, and Isa Apadyn, General Manager of TCDD, at the 10th UIC World Congress on High Speed Rail in Ankara.

The technical-engineering know-how of FS Italiane Group will be shared through training courses designed to meet the needs of TCDD. An additional training course for TCDD engineers is being reviewed, in partnership with the La Sapienza University of Rome, in railway engineering (Dedicated Post-Bachelor Training Program, Master Degree, Post-Master Specialist Course).

In May 2017, FS Italiane signed a wide-ranging Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with TCDD, launching joint working groups that have achieved their first objective of transferring specialist technical know-how. Over the years, the Group has also provided consultancy services to TCDD through the Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI), Trenitalia, and Italferr.
