Rome, 30 June 2025
The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (FS Italiane Group) signed the Third Supplementary Act to update the Programme Contract 2025 - 2022-2026 Services section, worth a total of approximately EUR 2.1 billion.
The update was approved following the successful notice submitted to CIPESS in recent days.
The Third Supplementary Act provides for the contractualisation of the new resources allocated by the Budget Law for 2025 and 2026, out of which 1.6 billion is earmarked for extraordinary maintenance, and approximately 500 million for managing the national railway infrastructure.
The Act updates the content of the Programme Contract - 2022-2026 Services section, by adjusting the contractual requirements to inflationary dynamics, the increased costs of materials and supplies, and the expansion of extraordinary maintenance activities at the stations. It also includes the staff reinforcement plan initiated by RFI to strengthen maintenance facilities.
By signing the deed, MIT and RFI confirm their commitment to strengthening the railway network maintenance and management, with the aim of guaranteeing an increasingly reliable and efficient service.
The upgrade represents a fundamental step for managing maintenance services on the national railway system, for an increasingly sustainable and efficient mobility. RFI confirms its commitment to continue modernising the national railway infrastructure and ensure an ever-better transport service for citizens and for the country's mobility.
