The train was designed and built to reach a commercial speed of 360 km/h and, further to around two years of testing and technical trials, on 14 April obtained Authorisation to Operate from the Italian Agency for Railway Security. The train will begin operating along the Turin to Naples HS network on 14 June, when the summer timetable becomes effective.

Top-level comfort will also be guaranteed through large, ergonomic seats, wide corridors, soundproofed environments and practically no vibrations, LED lighting and services especially designed to fulfil the various needs and necessities of every passenger.
The Frecciarossa 1000 will at first carry out 8 scheduled journeys along the Rome – Milan route, with four extended journeys to Naples, seven to Turin and four stops at Rho Fiera Expo Milano 2015.
