Genoa, 5 May 2026
Today, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Genoa, Monsignor Marco Tasca, visited the Genoa Teglia Command and Control Centre, a strategic hub of the regional railway network where the safety, regularity and continuity of train services are ensured on a daily basis.
During the visit, the Archbishop had the opportunity to gain a first-hand insight into the day-to-day activities carried out by the specialist staff working in the operations centres of Rete Ferroviaria and Trenitalia - on duty 24 hours a day managing and coordinating rail operations in real time, even in emergency situations or particularly complex circumstances thereby playing a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of the service and the mobility of thousands of passengers. He also met with the staff on duty and expressed his appreciation for the professionalism, expertise and sense of responsibility shown by the workers who are engaged in work that is essential for the community and the local area on a daily basis.
At the end of the visit, the Archbishop remained in the Command and Control Room for a moment of prayer and a blessing for the staff working at the Structure and their daily work, which is often carried out behind the scenes but is of great human and social value.
The visit provided an opportunity to reflect on issues relating to employment, care for people, and the role of public infrastructure in serving the community thereby confirming the importance of the railway network as a key element in the sustainable development and cohesion of the Genoa and Liguria regions.
